
Historical novelist John Isaac Jones chats with me about his new book, A Quiet Madness: A biographical novel of Edgar Allan Poe.
Bio:
John Isaac Jones is a retired journalist and novelist currently living at Merritt Island, Florida. For more than thirty years, he was a reporter for media outlets throughout the world. These included local newspapers in his native Alabama, The National Enquirer, News of the World in London, the Sydney Morning Herald, and NBC television. He is the author of ten novels, two short story collections and five novellas.
Welcome, John. Please tell us about your current release.
A Quiet Madness is the first book in my Great American Authors Series. My most recent release is A Sagebrush Soul: A biographical novel of Mark Twain.
What inspired you to write this book?
My love of Poe’s poetry and the belief the book would sell.
What exciting project are you working on next?
Currently, I am working on the third volume in my Famous American Authors series. The title is A Death Wish: A biographical novel of Ernest Hemingway
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
At age 26, when I became a staff writer on my hometown newspaper.

Do you write full-time? If so, what’s your workday like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
I write full-time and I try to write something every day. My daily routine is to write from around 8-12 each day.
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I’m a dyed-in-the-wool perfectionist.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An author.
