Bio:
T.R. Swerdlow is a writer of iconic family entertainment but who gives a crap. Doody poems is where he will leave his lasting mark.

Welcome, T.R., please tell us a little bit about your new release.
(blurb) This is the ultimate bathroom humor book–ideal for those days when you feel extra crappy. Hollywood screenwriter and international film festival winner T.R. Swerdlow has been “bumming” around a lot lately, so now he’s making a splash by dropping the most hilarious yet eloquent book of comedic poetry sweeping the nation.

Now when he’s not working on his film career in Los Angeles, he’s sitting on the toilet texting his friends about his poop. At least, that’s how his hilarious new book, Poop Poems, started!

What do you enjoy most about writing short stories/children’s books/novellas?
I don’t enjoy it. I get notions and if I don’t get them out, they niggle at me (that answer was an excuse to use the word niggle)

Can you give us a little insight into a few of your short stories – perhaps some of your favorites?
I write about my life. Here, this happened, this I what it is like to be me. Making things up does not interest me, examining and mythologizing reality does. I make stuff for my day gig, but writing about my life seems to make both my work and my life more interesting to me.

What genre are you inspired to write in the most? Why?
I might move onto pee, but there’s a lot less variation and grief.

What exciting story are you working on next?
This is it for me. After this I no longer give a shit.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
From the jump. But I didn’t like school and had learning disabilities and dyslexia so writing had bad connotations. But I was always a poet. I could make words scoot around from pretty early on.

How do you research markets for your work, perhaps as some advice for writers?
I have no advice except write. Find out what you are uniquely qualified to do and do it.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
The juxtaposition between depth and humor.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
A basketball player.

Anything additional you want to share with the readers?
I want everyone to examine their shit literally and figuratively. To elevate the common place to art is a good spiritual practice and if you can laugh while you do it, then even better.
