Welcome, Laura. Please tell us about your current release.
The One Woman is a love story of Ann and Julie. Ann lives in Los Angeles, Julie—in Kyiv. Ann is a lesbian, Julie has a long-term boyfriend. When their lives collide at the conference in Tel Aviv Julie starts questioning her sexuality. When they meet again in Barcelona, the pull is strong. Julie battles her guilt and new feelings, while Ann realizes she finally met her soul mate. When tragedy strikes, Julie has to choose between staying in a cocoon of her previous life or building a new life with Ann.
What inspired you to write this book?
It started with what if, inspired by all the books I’ve read before.
Excerpt from The One Woman:
Her face betrayed nothing, but her eyes were blazing. They locked on mine as I reached her. I swayed to the side, and she caught my bare shoulder. Ann glanced briefly to her hand still on my skin and looked directly into my eyes.
I froze, my heart hammering. Ann slowly traced her hand to my neck, my chin, her fingertips barely touching me, but all my senses were focused on that touch, sending pleasant shivers down my core. She moved closer, but inches from my face she stopped, asking for permission.
I couldn’t breathe as I swiftly closed the gap and touched her lips, ever so gently. Her lips were soft as silk. She tasted like the strawberry daiquiri we drank together just moments before leaving the party.
The fire roared inside me, going down, warming my core. I touched her neck, her skin, her shoulders, the hem of her dress, traced her chest. I wanted more.
“Do you want to go into my room?” I asked, my voice shaking.
“Do you want it?” She was looking at me, her lips red not from the lipstick but from my kiss. I dragged a thumb on her lower lip, nodding, and she smiled lightly.
What exciting story are you working on next?
Two of my next books are already with Create James Media, both will be out in 2024.
One of them is an LGBTQ historical/modern romance with a dash of magical realism. In Tallahassee, Riga, and New York, the story is set.
The other is a modern LGBTQ romance with lost love and polyamory.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I’m still wrapping my mind around it. It takes time to get used to it.
Do you write full-time? If so, what’s your work day like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
No. It’s difficult to find time to write in a hectic daily life. So setting a strict writing schedule, and sticking to it works for me.
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I need silence.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I was a practical child, so probably something boring.
Anything additional you want to share with the readers?
Sometimes the stress of daily life eats us away. Find your way to relax and don’t forget to treat yourself. Did you smile today?
Thank you for hosting The One Woman!
