Bio:
Growing up my parents loved to watch science fiction T.V. I think that as much as I was not paying attention at the time, I grew to harbor a love of Science Fiction because of them. I also wanted to write, and despite horrible handwriting and spelling, often daydreamed about what stories I could do. Now I am trying to make that dream a reality.
Welcome, Chris. Please tell us about debut current release.
It is set in future earth, humans have begun exploring the nearest stars, but this time a probe has brought something nasty back. Mainly a disease that can, and unless stopped, will wipe out all life on Earth.
What inspired you to write this book?
In college, a friend of mine suggested the conflict. I came up with the resolution, and he suggested that I should write this. Eventually, I decided to give it a shot.
Excerpt from Alien Plague:
“It can’t be that dangerous,” said Anna. “Diseases were something that killed our ancestors, not something we deal with today.”
Dr. Foster sighed, “If we could fight it, we could have saved Nicole. Don’t you think we would have done that if we could?”
“Are you saying you’re incompetent?”
“No, I‘m saying that these pathogens can’t be dealt with by modern medicine, and we have no more ways of stopping a Beta Strain infection today, than we did when Nicole got infected.”
But I felt like a dead man in here, like this was my tomb, where I had been taken to die. That if I did not escape, I would die. I knew that was not true, that if I escaped I would either die or live with my location not mattering at all… How did Elia, the man who died on me, and so many of the others keep so calm? How did they face death so well? I wish I could be half as calm as they were… I think I understood the people who rioted… #$%$ this sucks.
What exciting story are you working on next?
I have some stuff on the back burner, but I am trying to make a satirical story called SCIENCE of the Lambs. It involves terrible puns and sheep.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I think I only did when I published my first book this spring.
Do you write full-time? If so, what’s your work day like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
I don’t write full-time yet, but I am somewhat in between jobs. Though I was a student earning a master’s recently, and I hope to do some educational work online soon.
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
Hard question… though I have been told my characters are eloquent.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Train Engineer/Train driver.
