Interview with novelist Isaac Nasri

Today’s special guest is author Isaac Nasri to chat about his cyber drift saga, Into the Violet Gardens.

Bio:
Isaac Nasri is a self-published author. He grew up in Washington, DC and graduated in May of 2017 from the University of Maryland, College Park with a bachelor’s degree in sociology. His stories focus on offering allusion to recent events happening in contemporary society and how they affect his characters.

Heart of the Scrapdog released in 2020.

Welcome, Isaac. Please tell us about your current release.
My cyberpunk novel is centered in 2024. Despite it being told from various perspectives, Into the Violet Gardens is mainly centered on an American cyborg, who is an agent for the FBI’s Virtual Division. After he and his cybernetic team succeeded in crippling a corrupt criminal syndicate in Latin America, is struggling to adapt to a modern society that exploits and ridicules people (fellow cyborgs) like him.

What inspired you to write this book?
Being that this story was revamped and initiated in 2021, events that took place that year are what inspired this story. The novel, despite being cyberpunk, is loosely based on our modern society today.

What exciting story are you working on next?
I’ve been working on the sequel following Into the Violet Gardens, which will be set two decades after the horrifying events in the first book. As a result, the modern society will be very different than from it was in the first book.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
During my time in college, I started taking writing seriously. Back then, my skills were not the best but as I got older, that began improving.

Do you write full-time? If so, what’s your work day like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
I do not write full time. However, I write during my spare time or during my breaks.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
It comes down to putting too much thought and detail into a draft, which derails whatever time I can put in other chapters.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An artist, but as I got older, I realized that I can make use of that as a hobby instead of a direct living.

Anything additional you want to share with the readers?
You may find interesting Easter eggs when reading.
