Interview with writer Cosmin Onofrei

My special author guest today is non-fiction writer Cosmin Onofrei. He’s chatting with me about his new spiritual self-help, Hazard.

Bio:
In a world full of apparent contrasts, confusion and fear, Cosmin Onofrei is determined to bring light through provocative insight into the different forces that are at play in each moment.

His unique artistic approach to every experience that life has to offer, coupled with his resilient spirit and with a background in counseling unrestful hearts, make him best suited for bringing greater and greater awareness to the mysterious aspects of reality.

Even from a young age, his inquisitive nature propelled his practice into deeper and deeper realms, exploring each moment as the great vastness that the universe is. Now, he is trying to impart from his experience in such a way that the world blooms, making every minute as artistically full as it is, in other words, revealing its naked truth.

His distinctive spin, together with years of experience in the very nature of things, make his work the most obvious transformation process of the soul.

“Expect the unexpected, dive into what you can’t see, enjoy the free-fall, radiate the light of your spirit and the warmth of your heart…”

What inspired you to write this book?
The invisible thread that links every moment together, in the same way that “every movie is a collage of photos which are rapidly swiped to create the motion picture effect”, is the underlying principle of existence; That force is “responsible for putting everything together, that master conductor if you will that some refer to as fate or destiny”, but in my book I called it Hazard.

The sheer randomness of each moment, outlined by our misbegotten hopes, our frivolous attempts to obtain success, everything coupled with the seconds of joy and surreal beatitude that we live from time to time, all in all describe my inspiration.

“Everything is happening with a reason and beyond your reason, both at the same time.”

What exciting story are you working on next?
The next thing might not be a book. The next thing might be an instructional video course. So look for that in the not too distant future!

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
As for becoming a writer, that wasn’t a made decision, that was a born decision. Since birth I was entangled in the ways of Creation, submerged in every aspect of Art, only to be brought to surface by that force in the form of a Song, a melody or lyric, in the shape of a chapter or in just about any other form of art you can imagine.

I was born with a resilient spirit, and with a ‘never give up’ heart – these were and are the fundamental pieces that catalyzed this pathway.

Do you write full-time? If so, what’s your work day like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
Writing is just one modality that moves through me whenever it needs to. In each moment I let the force of the Universe live through me, and for the time being it points me in the direction of teaching people artful ways of loving, to show them how to reconnect with truth when they’ve forgotten, and this takes many forms: from speeches and lectures given to private counseling sessions, to name a few.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
Because I also write music and lyrics, I would write songs while traveling by train and I would start to write a chapter late at night, realize that I’m too tired and that I need to rest, go to bed and wake up in the middle of the night to continue because some words came to me in my dreams.

But to answer your question, for me the more stormy the weather the more inspiring it is. So I write or create art as often as I have to when I need to finish a project, a book let’s say, and when I’m not working with a deadline, I write or compose when the muse comes to me and when my environment is inspiringly stormy.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I can’t really remember something specific, because whenever I envisioned myself in a certain character or role, I immediately played out that character with full engagement, even though I might’ve been a bit young. I was fortunate enough to be surrounded by or to encounter people that allowed this to manifest, and that supported me in everything I would envision.
