Bio:
I’m a Jesus lover, web developer, video game developer, Navy vet, foreign language nut, and a nut in general. While other people are busy thinking normal thoughts, I’m crafting corny jokes. I live in Chesapeake, VA, with my wife and daughter.

Welcome, Dylan. Please tell us about your current release.
Scribes’ Descent is Christian-based and a bit like a futuristic Narnia. I wrote it based on the video game that I made, which you can play a sample of here: https://dylanwestauthor.com/demo. If you’re among the first 500 to review any of my books, I will add your name to that game as a collectible item!

What inspired you to write this book?
The related video game was my inspiration. The story I wrote for the game design document later because the novel.

What exciting project are you working on next?
I’m revision book 3 of the Scribes Series, called Scribes Emerge. It should release this November.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
At age 13, when I wrote my first full-length novel.

Do you write full-time? If so, what’s your workday like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
I write or revise about 2 hours a day during weekdays and as many as 8 hours a day on some weekends. For my day job, I build web applications for the US Navy as a contractor. To find time to write, I stay up late and put in my word count before I let myself go to bed.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I try to include at least one literary device in each chapter (beyond just simile and metaphor) and I keep a list of all my favorite one-liners in each of my books. I try to include at least one in each chapter.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
It changed over time: doctor and missionary to China were the main ones.

Anything additional you want to share with the readers?
I’ve started creating 2 fictional languages for the Scribes Series: Daishonic and Imnan. As part of this, I’ve designed the fonts for them in FontForge and have installed one of them on my Windows laptop. I can type in Imnan within MS Word and Photoshop!
