Bio:
Gregory Musell was raised in New Jersey and is the father of two adult children. He is an inactive CPA who previously owned a staffing firm, and left the corporate world to focus on writing. With an overactive imagination, he conceptualized “Creature Fighting” in his youth, and inched the story forward over a number of years. Utilizing it as the core concept of his first book, The Rise of a Legend was published in 2022. He is currently working on a follow-up story which is set four years later.

Welcome, Gregory. Please tell us about your current release.
It is a story about redemption and revenge; a story of a teen who goes from orphan to champion (of a medieval fighting outfit) to conqueror. Happening over a twenty year span, he overcomes racism to become something incredible.

What inspired you to write this book?
I had a thirty-five-year-old story in my head, and I wanted to get it written down before I lost it. I was also upset at the ugly things that dominated the news over the last few years (racism, the war in Ukraine, Russia’s threat of nuclear weapons, etc), and I wanted to incorporate these themes.

What exciting project are you working on next?
I am taking the main characters (except for a few major ones who “died off” in the first book) and writing a second book. It isn’t a sequel per se, but it is set four years later and references events of The Rise of a Legend.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
Only when the book was published. Before that I was a hack!

Do you write full-time? If so, what’s your workday like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
I have a few part time jobs, and I fit writing in when the weather is bad or when I need some excitement. I am not sure everyone feels excited when they write, but I know I do!

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
My background: a CPA turned medieval fantasy writer… how odd!

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I desperately wanted to be a race car driver.

Anything additional you want to share with the readers?
Only that The Rise of a Legend is a fun story with unforgettable characters and some great action.
