Interview with sci-fi author Victoria Romanski

Sci-fi author Victoria Romanski joins me today to chat about her dystopian time travel, Escape Velocity.

Victoria is wrapping up a virtual book tour with RABT Book Tours. You can check out her other stops – all the details are listed below.

Bio:
Victoria Romanski’s passion for writing science fiction evolved from early interests in time travel and social justice, resulting in a novel vision of what the future could hold for us all.

A diligent spectator of political discourse and current societal issues, she crafts stories with themes that explore familiar topics, but with a dystopian twist. Victoria considers these subjects valuable to engage with while expressing her craft in fresh and inventive ways.

A storyteller at heart, Victoria enjoys learning about other cultures through global travel. She uses her role as an observer of human behavior to explore avenues to make the world a better place.

Please tell us about your current release.
Escape Velocity is a Sci-Fi Thriller which follows the protagonist on a time travel journey which will leave the reader wondering what will happen next.

What inspired you to write this book?
I was inspired to write this book initially by a dream I had which was vaguely similar to the way I wrote the story. However, my inspiration going forward stems from a desire to share my art while addressing important current societal issues.

What exciting project are you working on next?
The next project I am working on is a sequel to Escape Velocity, which will continue on with the time travel theme, but will have a new protagonist.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I didn’t truthfully consider myself a writer until recently, but I suppose I have always been a writer since a young age when I was inspired to write by many great books, movies, and TV shows.

Do you write full-time? If so, what’s your workday like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
I would love to write full-time in the future. Currently, I work Monday-Friday for an IT company. I find time to write mostly in the evenings. If I am in the middle of a project with deadlines, I will work throughout the weekend, but typically I like to have my weekends off.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
This quirk is more about the process of crafting a new story, but I find myself imagining scenes in my head at any random time (sometimes even in the middle of the night) and will quickly jot down notes in my phone.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
As a child I wanted to be an actor or model. However, as I’ve gotten older, I’ve become more comfortable being in a position behind the scenes, such as writing.
