Please tell us about your current release.
My current release is called She’s Obsessed. It’s an African American fiction novel set in Chicago, IL. The main characters, Jayceon and Leah’s new perfect life together quickly turn upside down when Leah finds Jace’s deleted sex tape. Leah then becomes obsessed with hurting her new husband and the stripper she watched him with.
What inspired you to write this book?
Someone making me feel that I couldn’t. When my book Betrayed came out, the person I was working with at the time didn’t like it. She told me it was too sad and slow and that I could improve. Well, I was determined to show her that I could spice my writing up and create in any style I chose, and that’s what I did.
Excerpt from She’s Obsessed:
Jessica Fox threw her ass back to receive all of what Jace was giving, creaming down his shaft as he squeezed her hips. He buried himself deeper, enjoying every minute spent inside the stripper, taking full advantage of his last night of freedom. However, after he busted inside the magnum, he’d dismiss the dancer for the final time tonight. Jace planned to forget about Jessica Fox and return to his everyday life as if sex with the stripper never happened, except his iPhone was recording their every dirty move…
What exciting project are you working on next?
I’m thrilled to have a new family drama book series called Dark Waters starting soon. Book one will be released on June 6th, 2023, but you can preorder it now! Also, the audiobook of She’s Obsessed will be available this May, so I’m excited about that too.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I first considered myself a writer when I started writing my first book in 2008, and it came out much better than I had hoped.
Do you write full-time? If so, what’s your workday like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
Right now, I am a full-time writer. My workday consists of my alarm going off around 6 am. I’m in front of the computer most mornings by 8. From there, I’m either creating, editing, doing an interview like I am now, working on distribution, or researching a bit on what hot books are out. The next thing I know, It’s midnight, LOL!
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I think my interesting writing quirk would be the ending of the story will come first, so, at times, I find myself working backward, filling in the middle, and then working on the rest from there. It’s been like that since I started.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I wanted to be a pediatrician. I even created my “doctor’s signature” when I was fourteen because I was so sure that’s what I would be. (I use the same signature now to sign my books for readers).
Anything additional you want to share with the readers?
I want to tell readers that I work very, very hard on everything I put out for them. I spend countless hours, days, months, and sometimes years trying to make entertaining, polished work that they can enjoy. I know I have a long way to go before I create that perfect project, but just know I’m working overtime to do so. Thank you for allowing me to keep going!
