Welcome, Debra. Please tell us about your current release.
This is my first release. It is based on my life’s journey of unsure faith and the challenges that come with years of singleness, low self-esteem and rejection to a place of triumph and victory in Christ.

What inspired you to write this book?
God. He instructed me to write about my journey as it would bless many who struggle with similar challenges. He said that my story would encourage them that God hears their prayers and will bless in due season.

Excerpt from What Do You Do When Your Faith is Unsure?:
The seeds of insecurity began very early in my life, which ultimately led to the unwise decisions I made in my continued journey toward intimacy with Christ and my eventual marriage to my husband. The devil knew my purpose and set out to steer me in the wrong direction long before I was conceived. As far back as I can remember, maybe 6 or 7 years of age, I was a tall, slender, chocolate little girl with thick, coarse hair who loved to play with her cousins and friends. However, within the crevices of my soul, I was dealing with insecurities related to the color of my skin and the thickness of my hair. At a young age, I would liken the color of one’s skin to the texture and length of one’s hair.

What exciting project are you working on next?
I haven’t started a new work yet, but the wheels are spinning in my head about the next project. I believe the next project will focus on a something that includes my husband…a book on marriage!

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
I noticed I had a gift to write in my 20s. I was in a long-distance relationship and found myself writing him letters quite often. I really enjoyed writing those letters and found I really expressed myself a lot more when putting in down on paper.

Do you write full-time? If so, what’s your work day like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
I do not write full-time. I’m a CEO of a consulting business where I do have to write on occasion. I prepare reports and analyze numbers. Since I work from home, I determine my own work hours allowing me the flexibility to write in my down time and on weekends.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I’ve been told that I incorporate humor in my writing which can take the sting out of situations that could otherwise be very heavy. They’ve also said that reading my work puts them at ease, as if they were conversing with a girlfriend.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I thought I wanted to be a nurse, until I experienced seeing blood, then that dream quickly faded.
