Bio:
Elliott Robertson is a spiritual growth coach. His articles have appeared in several magazines including Science of Mind and Miracles.
Welcome, Elliott. Please tell us about your current release.
Say Yes to Life is about living life full out from within. It’s about connecting with the undercurrent of joy that we enter the world with and that stays with us until our final breath and beyond.
What inspired you to write this book?
I had completed a book and didn’t have any new book lined up. Still, I continued my habit of stopping at a café on my way to work with pen and paper. And I found myself writing odds and ends all with the theme of saying “Yes” to God. The working title for the book was Say Yes to God. Eventually, I decided to build on those initial pages and put together a book.
Excerpt from Say Yes to Life:
The opinions we carry about ourselves are not readily identified. They are not easy to spot. We think the opinion (“I can’t handle adult responsibilities,” or “I’m socially awkward and therefore I’ll always be rejected”) is a fair, objective description. We mistake the mask we’re wearing for who we are, and we have no recollection of ever choosing the mask, or putting it on.
To say Yes to life is to bow down to Spirit, to make the “Yes” God utters more important than any other considerations.
You may think of yourself as hobbled in certain ways. Your negative self-talk may have convinced you that you are not smart enough to pursue something you dream about. You may have formed unflattering opinions about, say, your artistic abilities, and these opinions may have caused you to leave your art supplies in the attic, untouched for years.
Cling to the negative self-talk no longer. Listen to Divine Intelligence say “Yes” to you, instead.
What exciting story are you working on next?
I’ve been focusing on blogs and articles lately. All of them are about the need to be right. And cognitive dissonance. When July was coming to a close, I had an intuition that the next few week, maybe the next few months, will be full of surprises on the world stage. And many people might become disoriented, stunned, jarred. Many people might have to discard their interior maps of reality and grapple to form new maps, new understandings.
I’m hoping to help people release cognitive dissonance and welcome the new. I’m also hoping to help people celebrate their divine capacities. That’s something I’m always eager to do.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
The first time I answered, “What are you going to do when you grow up?” with “I’m going to be a writer” was when I was 8 years old. So I guess I’ve always known.
Do you write full-time? If so, what’s your work day like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
Over the years I’ve had a day job. So I make time for writing just like some people make time for going fishing on the weekends or reading at bedtime.
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I usually write with pen and paper first and then type. Sometimes I’ll do a little rewriting when I’m typing.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I loved writing as a kid. I don’t remember ever thinking I might take on any other sort of career.
Anything additional you want to share with the readers?
If you’d like to see my most recent blogs, some of them are on Linked In. I also have some fairly recent articles posted on Good Men Project.
