Welcome, James. Please tell us a little bit about yourself.
Hello, my name is James Ruvalcaba. I’m 28 years old and I’m from Los Angeles California. I am a first-time author and I wrote The Light through the Pouring Rain. I am a family man and hold them near and dear to me. I am a down to Earth person that loves creating conversations. I believe the more we communicate the more we see the beauty of God’s previous workings. In pursuit of my God given mission I began writing because of a promise I made to my fiancée on her last day. I wanted to honor my fiancée’s legacy and to be a testimony of God’s goodness. I continue to tell stories and hope to achieve telling stories that uplift others, give some perspective on life and to walk away with a sense of inspiration. If they can take lessons and perspectives given in my words to their own lives then I feel I accomplished what I set out to do.

Please tell us about your current release.
My story is about my fiancée Anabel and I as we experienced the trials and tribulations of a cancer treatment. We both were in our twenties when this diagnosis halted our lives’ plans. With no clear road map on how to navigate through our new normal, we proceed into uncharted territory, hand-in-hand, with the love of our families and our faith in God to guide us. The story is an emotional rollercoaster with sprinkles of sarcasm and humor in it to ease the story’s overall sadness.

Blurb:

A remarkable love story that pulls on your heartstrings and leaves you inspired. A page turner that gives a first-hand look into the lives of a young couple madly in love and eager to start their lives together, only to have it all halted by a cancer diagnosis. With no clear road map on how to navigate their new normal, James and Anabel proceed into uncharted territory, hand-in-hand, with the love of their families and their faith in God to guide them.

What story are you working on next?
I am contributing to another book at the moment, but to keep moving forward I am working on my second book in my series.

When did you first consider yourself a writer?
Honestly it still hasn’t hit me. At times I feel like I wake up out of a daydream and say, “Oh, yeah, I am writer.”

Do you write full-time? If so, what’s your workday like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
I do write full time, prior to my commitment I am an all in or all out type of person, so I knew I needed to do the extreme and leave both of my jobs in order to pursue my dreams and I did just that. So now that my risk paid off my day is usually all routine. I go to the gym at 5AM then I work from 8AM to about 2PM. My work consists of writing more, promotions, making appearances, radio, podcasts and replying to emails. Then after work I go back to the gym to release the stresses of the day and then enjoy family time.

What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
Honestly, as long as I’ve exercised prior and I am outside I am in a good place to write.

As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
I had so many different avenues I wanted to get into, WWE wrestler, NFL Player, later in my teens even a party planner, but that all went out the window when I didn’t grow past 6ft and then I couldn’t match two different decors. So, now I write.

Anything additional you want to share with the readers?
In all seriousness, I want the readers to know that no matter your situation, once you make a conscious decision to put one foot in front of the other you’ve officially decided that your circumstances will not defeat you.
