A business owner, filmmaker and endeavoring golfer. He lives in Pennsylvania with his wife, family and near-perfect dog.
Welcome, Derrick. Please tell us about your current release.
Every single one of us has been created for a purpose. The best way to figure out what your purpose is, is to go back to your manufacturer. God has a destiny for your life. This destiny exists both on earth, and in heaven. In both places, the end result or goal is to give Him glory. The 10 Win Commandments are 10 motivations to help you reach that goal.
What inspired you to write this book?
I’ve always loved to help others improve their station in life. The best advice that I give to others is whether things are going bad or good, keep God in the mathematical equation of your life – more specifically in the first spot. This is my attempt at pushing you forward.
Excerpt from The 10 Win Commandments:
from Commandment 3 – Confront Your Fears
Life is a battleground not a playground. As you run this race, there will always be obstacles, hindrances, and oppositions to face. Some believers are under the misconception that because they run on team God, there will be nothing but gravy trains cruising down easy streets. There’s a saying that a smooth sea never made a good sailor, which means that an easy situation rarely improves you. Challenging experiences often give the best lessons in life. As in weightlifting, it is resistance that builds our stamina, our muscle, and our endurance.
What exciting story are you working on next?
I am co-authoring as part of an anthology titled For Such a Time as This due to be released November 2021.
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
From a young age I’ve always loved to write. I’ve actually written screenplays, stage plays & songs. However, this is my first work as a published author.
Do you write full-time? If so, what’s your work day like? If not, what do you do other than write and how do you find time to write?
I am self-employed. I’ve owned a furniture and mattress store for almost 10 years now.
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
I have to listen to binaural audio when writing.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
An architect.
Anything additional you want to share with the readers?
Step out on faith. If God is prompting you to do something, give it a try. The first step is terrifying, but the second one is amazing.
Thanks for being here today, Derrick!
