Today’s special guest is children’s author-duo M. T. Becker. We’re chatting about Zinger in the Woods.
A full list of all tour stops is listed below (along with links) as they tour the book with The Muffin, Women on Writing.
Bio:
M.T. Becker is a husband and wife writing team. We both are former teachers who decided to teach outside of the classroom.
Please tell us a little bit about your current release.
Olive is searching for her missing dog Ginger, but the dog has fallen into a hole and is trapped. Along comes Zen, a homeless dog who helps free Ginger. Together, they make their way back to Olive.
This book is perfect for teaching young readers how to trust, make new friends, get out in nature, explore and investigate the world around them and learn about the best doctors, sunshine, diet, fresh air, fresh water, a goodnight’s rest, and exercise.
What do you enjoy most about writing short stories?
The most enjoyable thing about writing short is that they teach lessons every new generation will appreciate.
Can you give us a little insight into a few of your short stories – perhaps some of your favorites?
Folktales especially the ones with Anansi, the spider, as the main character.
What genre are you inspired to write in the most? Why?
Our first book was a fitness book focusing on the combined benefits of yoga and juicing. Our latest book, Zinger in the Woods, is a children’s book, but it contains a lot of beneficial health information. So, we would say that health and wellness will always be a part of our writing.
What exciting story are you working on next?
There are a few projects in the works and the sequel to Zinger In The Woods is definitely one of them!
When did you first consider yourself a writer?
As elementary school teachers we both love teaching writing and inspiring young children to write.
How do you research markets for your work, perhaps as some advice for writers?
Reading a lot of books in the genre we want to write about.
What would you say is your interesting writing quirk?
Writing late at night and writing between the lines.
As a child, what did you want to be when you grew up?
Tiesha wanted to be a zoologist, and Mark wanted to be a treasure hunter.
Anything additional you want to share with the readers?
Writing is the way we express who we are as individuals, and we think our readers should express their unique talents and gifts in whichever way they feel the most alive.
